Unlocking the Power of Frozen Storage: Innovative Strategies for Optimal Preservation

Freezing is a process for long-term preservation of fruits, vegetables, meats and fish. It extends shelf life significantly and also retains nutrients.

It is important to freeze foods at a temperature of 0deg F or lower to retain vitamin content, color, flavor and texture. However, quality may decrease the longer a food is frozen.

Compressor

The compressor is the heart of a cold storage system. It takes the cool refrigerant, compresses it into vapor at higher temperatures and delivers it to the evaporators and condensers.

There are many types of compressors: reciprocating, screw rotary, kho thuc pham dong lanhcentrifugal and open. The type of compressor used in a particular application depends on the load requirements.

Reciprocating compressors are commonly used in applications where the dry gas needs to be compressed with a high compression ratio (discharge pressure/suction pressure). A reciprocating compressor consists of a piston, crankshaft and cylinder valves that regulate the flow of the process gas.

Compressors can also be designed for variable speed control. This can minimize power waste by controlling the capacity of the compressor by starting and stopping it when it is needed.

During operation, the piston rings and rod packing in the compressor cylinder seal the process gas to prevent leaks. Rings are typically made of metal in one piece, with gaps to allow them to expand when the piston reaches its operating temperature. Lubrication is essential for metallic rings. Piston rod packing is usually provided with bronze or Babbitt expansioners and riders for lubrication purposes.

Automated Storage and Retrieval System

An automated storage and retrieval system is an advanced computer-controlled warehouse management system that stores and retrieves loads on demand. They are commonly used in cold storage, automotive, pharmaceutical manufacturing and e-commerce applications.

Automated storage and retrieval systems can maximize warehouse space, increase productivity, improve picking accuracy, reduce energy costs and increase worker ergonomics. They are also easier to customize than conventional warehouse systems, and can be easily integrated with a warehouse execution system (WES) to provide inventory control, replenishment, and tracking functionality.

ASRS systems can be implemented in several areas throughout a facility, including the storage of materials, pallets and cases, or in the production area where goods are placed on carts for transport. Goods-to-person, dynamic storage and retrieval systems allow an operation to maximize their available storage space, and they can be arranged to maximize storage capacity by FIFO (first in, first out) and LIFO (last in, first out).

Unit load automated storage and retrieval systems are ideal for handling heavyweight cases and pallets. They can handle large weights in a range of 1,000 to 5,500 pounds and are perfect for high-speed load handling.

Another type of AS/RS is the carousel-based system that consists of bins mounted on a carousel, which rotates horizontally or vertically to deliver goods on command. They can be operated manually or by a robot.

Refrigerated Truck

A refrigerated truck is used to transport a variety of products that need to stay at certain temperatures for an extended period. This can include everything from pharmaceutical products to fresh produce and even flowers.

Refrigerated trucks are a crucial part of the logistics industry, as they help businesses like pharmacies and grocery stores to ship perishable goods from one place to another. Without these trucks, consumers wouldn’t be able to enjoy fresh, seasonal foods all year long.

Today, reefer trailers and trucks are used to ship more than 90 percent of consumer goods that make it onto our tables. They’re also used to deliver vital supplies to hospitals and clinics.

The refrigeration system in a refrigerated truck consists of three key components: the condenser, the compressor and the evaporator. These parts operate seamlessly with the vehicle’s electrical and charging system to keep things cold.

Many modern refrigerated trucks also have a battery-powered supply to ensure that the refrigeration unit is still operating even if the main engine of the truck is off. This is especially useful in the case of traffic jams or an emergency on the road where there may be a breakdown and the refrigerated system can’t run off the main engine.

The temperature-controlled goods that are shipped through refrigerated freight need to be packaged in a way that allows them to remain in the proper condition during transit. This can require special packaging materials and the use of gel coolants or dry ice to keep them frozen.
